1911-2012
Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Lola passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on August 1, 2012 at the Ida Culver Health Center, Seattle, Wa. She had a special gift of bestowing genuine brightness and joy upon all people and events, and always insisted that it was better to do for others while they were alive. Lola moved to Seattle as a young woman to pursue a career in business from Sunnyside, Wa where she was born into a family of pioneers with great grandparents having moved to the Oregon Territory by oxcart in 1851 and later receiving a land grant from President Ulysses S. Grant. Lola enjoyed gardening and the rural life at Emel Glade, her home for many years on Hood Canal but she also returned to her condo in Seattle 2-3 times a month where, as an accomplished bridge player, she could reconnect with her many bridge friends and enjoy city life. Mom was a long-time member of the Washington Athletic Club and past member of Eastern Star and Algona Garden Club. She is survived by a son, Bud Wyand, and daughter, Susan Karban, granddaughters (& spouses) Christy Sichmeller (Jeff), Lisa Lindquist (Tod) and Traci Shepard (Randy) and great grandchildren Alison, Jeffrey, Hannah, Semine, Sam and Jack. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Ida Culver and Providence Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Private services to be held at Acacia Memorial Park. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to favorite charities or to the Medic One Foundation, 325 9th Ave, Seattle, Wa 98104.
