There are no words to express the sadness I feel at the sudden loss of my friend.  She was a blessing to her community in so many ways.  The countless hours she spent working for the Democratic Party and our country were a gift.  Her devotion to the Sunshine Animal Club and her dogs were also unsurpassed.  Lor is irreplaceable and greatly missed at the dog park.  Personally, I considered her a strong woman, confident in her beliefs and loyal to her core.  I valued her friendship and considered her someone I could trust to confide in, do the right thing and follow through on promises.  She deserves a special place in heaven and I am so sorry I am not able to attend her funeral.

Lor and Chuck lived across the street from me in Seattle, and while I didn't get to know her well because of our different places in life, I knew from several instances how caring she was, and someone who would do anything to help others. After we both moved away, we became Facebook friends and I learned the depth of her wisdom and dedication,  her persistence and strength, all of which she poured into trying to make our world a better place, starting with politics and public policy. She was an inspiration, a whirlwind of positive energy, and I miss her already.

Loralee served with me on the executive board of the Sunshine Animal Club of Sun City West, AZ. I had a real connection to her. We both had been schooled in Stephen R. Covey's, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effectuve People," and we were both born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Loralee reminded me of close friends that date back to the mid-seventies through the early nineties. I was happy to revisit those years through a humanitarian like Loralee. I admired her perspectives on humans as well as dogs and cats. The Sunshine Animal Club had a fine leader in Loralee... "President Loralee DeShazor."

Loralee was one of my mother's best friends from an early age. My first memories of Lor were when she used to babysit. She was a lot of fun but didn't put up with any shenanigans.  To me she was Aunt Loralee and she was a beloved member of my family.  I told her that many times and let her know how much she meant to me. She was kind, wise and gave great advise even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Lor talked me through some difficult times, most recently when my husband died two years ago. She reminded me that I still had a lot of living to do and to focus on that. I spoke to her by phone for what would be the last time on March 2nd of this month. I was worried she was pushing herself to hard but she told me she was tough and she still had a lot to do, God willing. My last words to her were how much I loved her and how much she meant to me. She responded, back at you kiddo. My heart is still grappling with the idea that she's no longer with us but I take solace in knowing she's been reunited with her loved one's who went before she did. Rest In Peace my dear Aunt Lor until we are together again. I will love you forever. 💞

I’m so sad to hear of Lor’s passing. I’d only known her five years, but we bonded over dogs and politics. She was passionate about both and  will truly be missed.

I only met Lor once at a breakfast for other women in Sun City West. But I saw and read many of her posts in various groups defending Democracy. She knew what she believed in and wasn't afraid to voice it and encourage others in these tumultuous times. Her untimely death is very sad. My sympathy to the family and friends.
