Louis (Lou) Parent, who passed away on October 21, 2024 was a beloved husband, devoted father/grandfather and cherished friend. He was born in Michigan and moved out to Seattle after joining the army. While working as a projectionist at a local movie theater, he met and fell in love with his life partner, Janice (Jan) in the early 60’s. They dated and were married in October, 1962.
He frequently mentioned that he was a simple guy from Michigan and had the ability to make others laugh by not taking things too seriously. He would always find moments to lighten the mood with fun anecdotes from a given situation or his life. He was a character that drew people in to pay attention when he held court while he spoke. Though he could be stern and stand up for what he believed, his kindness and generosity was always at the forefront of who he was as a person. He was a funny, charming man that left a great impact on those who knew him.
Over the years, he wore many suits while building a life with his family. His perfectionist quality allowed him to learn many skills along the way to oversee and transcend his skillset to literally build and fix things on his own while creating a nest egg for his family.
Lou is survived by his wife, Jan, 3 children, Teresa, Renée and Louie and 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Claudette and Emilia. His siblings, Larry, Patricia, Mary Lee, Deb and Jeff. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Marie (Sis).
A service to celebrate Lou’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16th, at 11:00AM at Butterworth Funeral Home on Queen Anne, 520 W. Raye St. There will be a webcasting of the service too.
He went peacefully and we are happy knowing he is no longer suffering. Though we are heartbroken by this loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared with Lou (Dad). He will live in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wakefield High School, Sports Program, attn: Mark Lane, 715 Putnam St., Wakefield, MI 49968. Thank you.
