Life has really become so much complicated and full of challenges that in some way, I am grateful that you are not affected by this anymore. I am grateful that you did not witness and experience COVID. I cannot imagine what life would look like for you have you been around this pandemic.

Dear Nanay,

Tomorrow is going to be your second anniversary. Things are different now. The world has become a lot more complicated for everyone, especially for me. Every day is a challenge, and I sometimes find myself deliberating the worth of even the littlest of actions I take every day.

However, every so often I am reminded of the strong, powerful, and admirable family I come from and the struggles you have faced. Standing on the shoulders of such giants like yourself have given me a perspective I am fortunate and privilaged to have. 

Bear in mind in whatever life you are having that you continue to be an inspiration to me and everyone else. Wherever you are, you  are safe. Rest in peace, and rest assured that our lives continue on.

Today marks one year since you went to heaven. I miss you a lot Nanay.  So much has changed since you were here with us. For one thing, I am somewhat glad that you are not here with us worrying about COVID-19, the riots and protests, all the unrest and hurt going on everywhere. You are very safe.  To my dearest great grandma Nanay - We visited her every month. My mom made us take many pictures with her which was a good thing because now we have something to look back at them. I love you Nanay and I will miss you dearly. Thank you for all the hugs and kisses we get from you every time we visited you. 🥰🙏

Although I’m not the closest to her of her 55 great grandchildren, I will always be grateful  for the fact that I had the opportunity to have her in my life and am lucky enough to be of her descent. Even if not directly or through words, she has taught me so much. She taught me where I’ve come from; a line of strong, stubborn and fighting women. She taught me to take control of your life and live it how you want, because it’s short and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. She taught me the importance of family and caring for one another. But most importantly, she taught me regret- and how to deal with it. 
As a great granddaughter my biggest regret was not making more of an effort to get to know her, know her stories, and build a bond. I regret the fact that I didn’t ask to go see her, it was more of I was getting asked to go see her. Yet in the end, I know she wouldn’t want me to dwell to much on it. She is not gone, at least not completely and we still have the opportunity to create a bond. I know she’ll be by my side, looking over my shoulder, watching me as I grow and live my life that she sacrificed so much to bless me with. 
As we enter this new stage of life, I want to live out these things that she’s taught me. Be strong, fight for what you want, live life without regrets. Love. 
And grandma if you’re reading this, thank you. Fly high. I love you.

I am very happy to have had you in my life, you love all of your grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren like they are your own kids. You made many sacrifices to other people and always make sure that everyone is ok. I love you and I will miss you for the rest of my life.

I miss you so much Nanay . Some moments can only be cured with a big squishy great grandma hug. Thank you for letting me eat all your coco cereal whenever I came to visit you.  I love you Nanay 😘

I have had so many great memories with nanay lucy but if i were to pick one, it would be watching tagalog comedy movies with her, kuya vidal and ate cherry. Old school movies such as dolphy, tito vic and joey and chiquito etc are some of her favorites. Listening to nanay laughing, and screaming at the tv was such a joy to witness and will make you smile and appreciate it. Sometimes tita emma, kuya jhun, kuya nestor will happen to be there visiting nanay and they would watch with us as well. Even just listening to nanay talk about her life in the philippines, her kids or how she raised me etc is  ever a dull moment. Nanay lucy had shown me  what is family is all about, that no matter what and how hard it gets, family will always be there for you.


My darling grandma, we will always respect all you went through in your hardships and distinguished ways,
Your ability to hold yourself with such dignity and pride in all your days, 
Your beauty shines in us all who were lucky to be part of your devoted family,

Nanay - Thank you for all the love and sacrifices you did for all of us.  I am so blessed and privilidge to have all the opportunity to care for you in the last 8 years.  The last 8 years was quiete a journey and it has taught me many valuable things in life.  I learned so much about your cancer, your bones, your spines, etc. I learned how Nursing Homes and Hospice operates. I met so many compassionate, kind and caring folks such as Doctors, Surgeons, Nurses, CNAs, caseworkers,  from Pac Med, VM and Swedish hospitals, Keiro and Columbia Lutheran Nursing home and Providence Hospice.  It was a well worth it journey.  I am so much stronger because of you, because of all the experiences learned from our journey.  Thank you. We will take good care of Kuya Vidal so not to worry.  You are now in peace and resting well in God's hand.  You will be missed dearly. I love you so much. Rest well now. ❤
