Malinda Lee Lewis
December 6, 1943 – January 5, 2021
Malinda Lee Lewis, 77, passed away peacefully on the 5th of January 2021 in Seattle, Washington. She was born on December 6, 1943 in Seattle. She graduated from Ingraham High School in 1962, and continued her education to obtain a nursing degree from Everett General Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Malinda’s prolific career as a nurse continued for many years, including 20 years at Waldo Hospital and subsequently 20 years at Group Health.
Malinda was selfless and gave freely to others. She was a tireless and committed advocate for the homeless. In later years, she gave much of her time working directly with those who are dispossessed. She was a devoted member of Journey Christian church in Lake City. Malinda had a beautiful voice and was also a member of the choir for many years. Malinda brought much joy to her family, her friends, and her patients with her quick wit and sunny smile. She loved the outdoors and camping, and enjoyed relaxing at the beach at Ocean Shores.
Malinda was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John Thorp and Lois Lee Thorp, and her son Daniel. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, son David, granddaughter Jessica, brother Bill Thorp and family, brother John and sister-in-law Barbara Thorp and family, sister-in-law Tammy Lewis and her husband Steve Goodman, and honorary son Julius Rwamashongye, his wife Joan, and their children Allyn, Andrew and Alex.
