

Marceo and Joan Olegario were married on February 12, 1967 in Manila, Philippines. With their children Rex and Joy, they settled in Seattle, Washington in 1976. They built a prosperous life together filled with family, grandchildren, and friends. They passed away together peacefully on August 12th, 2021.
Marceo Olegario was one of five children of Ambrosio and Conception, was born on June 5, 1937 in Bayombong, Vizcaya. He earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. After immigrating with Joan to the United States, he worked for several companies over the years including the Container Company, Boeing, and became the Senior Engineer for Seattle City Light. Dedicated to upholding professional standards and community service, he was a member of the Association of Filipino-American Engineers of Washington (AFEW), founded the Binalonan Association of Seattle and served as Worshipful Master of the Yancy C. Blaylock lodge #265 of the Freemasons. He also helped others as a court and medical interpreter. He loved to attend do- it- yourself seminars and the Folk Life Festival yearly. He is survived by sisters Filipina and Lourdes. After suffering a brain injury, his wife Joan lovingly cared for him the last fifteen years of his life.
Joan Mercado Anis Olegario was born on March 27th, 1941 in Gerona, Tarlac. She was the daughter of Maximino and Carmelita Anis and had five brothers and sisters: Florante, Mercedes, Eleanor, Romeo, and Chester. A sixth brother, Carmelito, passed away in infancy. Having lost her mother at an early age, she became a mother-figure to her siblings. She would provide motherly support to many others throughout her life. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines. She immigrated a year ahead of her family to the United States in 1975 and worked at Doctor’s Hospital, American States Insurance, and the United States Post Office. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Calma and her brother Chester Anis. She loved to garden and surrounded their home with roses. She enjoyed social events and dances with Marceo. She helped keep family ties close by gathering them year-round, including holidays. She helped friends and family immigrating from the Philippines settle in the United States. Throughout the years she helped support the higher education of the children of both family and friends. She dedicated the last fifteen years of her life to Marceo’s health and wellbeing as his caregiver.
Marceo and Joan are survived by their daughter Joy and their son Rex’s family: daughter in-law Dorcas and their children Amalia, Andrew, Amanda, Marc, and Miranda.
