Margaret Mead Griffith

Age 95, of Seattle, passed away on July 19, 2001. She was born on June 16, 1906 in the Greenlake area of Seattle. Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Tilson K. Mead in 1948, and Clarence H. Griffith in 1985. She is the mother of Herb T. Mead Sharon and Ronald H. Mead, of Bellevue; stepmother to Donald A. Griffith Janice, of Tacoma, and stepmother-in-law to Robert T. Cook, of Seattle. Margaret is also survived by her sister, Elsie Sund Joyce, of Seattle; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and a host of friends at the Hearthstone Retirement Home where she had resided for the last 16 years. Margaret was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a member of the Swedish Club of Seattle. She had lived an active and supportive life for both of her husbands and family. Both husbands held longtime management positions at Nordstrom Shoe Stores. In honor of her 95th birthday, the family got together with Margaret for a celebration of her life. The family Meads, Griffiths, & Sunds spent the day telling stories and reminiscing over the years of many family gatherings organized and hosted by Margaret at the family vacation home on Lake Sammamish. Viewing hours will begin on Monday, July 23rd, 12:00 PM?8 PM and Tuesday, July 24th, 9:00 AM?8:00 PM at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N?Seattle. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, 2:00 PM at THE HEARTHSTONE CHAPEL, 6720 E. Greenlake Way North, Seattle, WA 98103. If desired, remembrances may be made in Margaret?s memory to the Hearthstone Memorial Fund.
