Margaret Higgins

Born July 30, 1933 in Atkinson, Nebraska; passed away May 28, 2003 in Seattle at age 69 following a blessedly brief bout with cancer. Married to Carl E. Meitzen from 1955 to 1975, and to Carl E. Higgins from 1981 until his death in 1996. She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann Ross, and her husband Chris of Richmond Beach, WA; son, Steven C. Meitzen and his wife Tracey, of Tampa FL; grandchildren, Emily and Clara Ross, Ed, Andrew and Dominique Meitzen; mother Dorothea Rohrs, brother, Bob Rohrs and sister Sylvia Arnot. She is also survived by a loyal circle of friends from her church, her community, and the program. Her gifted and enduring support of others will be deeply missed. Margaret leaves us a legacy of poetry and light verse which she wrote with a passion and which always illuminated her extraordinary wit and wicked sense of humor.
