November 28, 1911-August 7, 2001
Our mother slipped peacefully away Tuesday evening to be with her sister and family. She was born in Yonkers, New York, and spent her early years in Aberdeen, Scotland, then moved to Victoria, BC following World War I. She was a graduate of the Royal Jubilee Hospital School of Nursing in Victoria, and was featured in the centennial celebration book. Margaret moved to Seattle in 1932. She remained in Seattle and was on the nursing staff at Maynard Hospital and later Firland Sanitarium. Margaret was a good nurse, and a wise and loving mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She was kind, considerate, and a strong and independent woman. Margaret leaves her loving daughters Elizabeth Rankin Gerry Willhelm, Leslie Rankin Mark Burnett, and granddaughters Andrea Margaret Rankin Burnett and Malorie Jean Rankin Hilscher, niece Barbara Schoener and nephew David Richdale. Her former husband, Francis Rankin, MD, and her sister, Nan Richdale, both of Seattle, preceded her in death. At her request, there will be no services, but a private family gathering will be held on Saturday. Arrangements by Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home.
