Marie passed away on December 16, 2012 in Seattle at the age of 91. She was born on December 21, 1920 in Nov Kdyne, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Frantiek and Marie Vojta. Marie graduated from Charles University in Prague with a degree in Physical Education, was a ballet dancer at the Czech National Theater and a Yoga teacher in Seattle for over 40 years. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Ladislav Svoboda and her brother Frank Vojta. Marie is survived by her daughters Jana Bertkau and Patricia Svoboda, her grandchildren Anne Riley, Karen and Michael Bertkau, and her great-grandchildren Catherine and Elise Riley. A memorial service will be held in March at Plymouth Church, Seattle. Arrangements under the direction of Washelli Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association , Western and Central Washington State.
