OBITUARY

Martin Howard Brashem

December 25, 1926 – June 6, 2026
Obituary of Martin Howard Brashem
IN THE CARE OF

Butterworth Funeral Home - Arthur A Wright Chapel & Queen Anne Columbarium

Martin Howard Brashem (Marty) was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 25, 1926 and passed away June 6, 2026 in Bellevue, WA. The family moved to Seattle when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Broadway High School and the University of Washington.

His family was very important to him. He is survived by daughters Carrie Stein (Dick), Linda Jacobs (Jeff), Dena Fantle (Steve), son Marvin Brashem (Lisa), daughter-in-law Terry Brashem,

10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years Joan Brashem, son Mark Brashem, parents Edward and Sadie Brashem, and sister Joan Krivosha.

After a long career at General Metals in Tacoma, WA, Marty founded M Brashem, Inc., which remains in the family. He served as treasurer and president of Temple Beth El in Tacoma. He and Joan loved to travel, he was an avid golfer, fisherman and woodworker, and most of all he loved people. He made friends easily wherever he went. His life philosophy was “every day is a good day,” and he truly lived that most of his 99 years.

Marty was like a sturdy tree, generous with his roots and branches for everyone lucky enough to be in his life. Integrity, humility and gratitude were values he admired and lived by.

The family thanks his friends and the staff at the Bellettini in

Bellevue, his home for the past 7 years, and Kline Galland Hospice for their loving care.

Donations in Marty’s honor may be made to Kline Galland, Jewish Family Service of Seattle, Hebrew Free Loan Association of Washington or a charity of choice.

Private services were held.
