

Mary Corinne Jones of Seattle passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was born to Osmund and Marie Nilson, Norwegian immigrants, on May 25, 1923. She lived most of her life in the Seattle area where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Donald Jones in 1972 and lived in Virginia and California during his service to the Coast Guard before returning home to Seattle. After Don passed away she resided at Foundation House of Northgate where she enjoyed spending time with dear friends.
Mary loved to travel and visited Hawaii and Europe numerous times. She was a longtime member of The Daughters of Norway Valkyrien Lodge #1 of Seattle as was her mother before her. She was very enthusiastic about her Norwegian heritage and passed that enthusiasm on to her nieces and nephews. She was also an avid Mariners fan and rarely missed a game on TV. During the last number of years she attended St. John United Lutheran Church in Seattle.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces: Craig Nilson (Barbara) of Winthrop; Kurt Nilson (Betsy) of Lake Forest Park; Marsha Nilson of Kure Beach, NC and Ann Hopkins (Bryan) of Lake Stevens. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews as well as two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew. She is also survived by stepdaughter Donna (Mark) and stepson Donald Jones, Jr. (Darlene), all of Vermont.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jones; and her brother, Melvin Nilson.
