My whole life Aunt Mary was so good and so positive and very polite to me and my family.

She will be greatly missed!

We were fortunate to have Mary and her husband Don as neighbors when we first moved to Magnolia two decades ago.  Mary and Don were such welcoming neighbors and helped us feel so happy that we chose Magnolia as our home.  Mary was an avid gardner and I remember getting bags of green beans and tomatoes from her garden (although it was always "never hot enough here for my tomatoes").  She made a mean corned beef and cabbage.
As our friendship developed we got to learn so much more about her and how she was the embodiment of the resiliency that saw our nation through so many trying times this past century.  She was a child of the Depression, a survivor of the Dust Bowl, and a contributor to the War effort as Rosie the Riveter.
An amazing lady.

A tribute to my Aunt Mary. My Father's younger sister, my Mother's maid of honor, my Grandmother's sweet, abiding daughter, and my aunt who shone her light of love, care and beauty to our large family. Mary was the seventh of eleven children. Father Peter, the youngest and only surviving sibling, told me just recently that not only was Mary a good and kind sister, but that ". . . she raised me! Mother still had quite a few of us still at home you know, and she handed me over to Mary!" I have enjoyed the honor of being with Mary, especially these past eight years, as companion and advocate, along with several of her closest, loyal friends. Mary is in my heart and resides forever with all of us as we, her nieces and nephews, including grands and great-grands, carry on remembering her strength and steadfastness. 

I became friends with Mary after the passing of her husband, Don. Because Don handled all of the paperwork for the family, Mary needed help learning how to write checks and pay bills. Mary never ceased to amaze me with her sharp perceptions, stubborn loyalty, and her attention to detail. I was happy to help her and I enjoyed learning from this real-life "Rosy the Riveter" and garage-sale queen. I will miss our Sunday breakfasts at the Salmon Bay Cafe and our "fish and chips lunches" at Chinooks. Rest in peace Mary. Your memory is a blessing.

Mary will be greatly missed however, her memory will live on forever for all of us.  We know Mary is now in a better place filled with joy and happiness.
