Mary Joe Rossell

Born Aug. 22, 1923 in Rockwood, TN, joined our Lord in Heaven on Sept. 4, 2008 at age 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, US Navy Captain Charles Edward Rossell Sr. MD in 1984, daughter Jayne Meredith in 1993 and son, Charles Edward Jr. in 2002. She is survived by six of her eight children, John, Susan, Richard, Robert, Blanche, Paul, and her beloved cat, Mitsie. Also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin, Chrissy, Brian, and two great-grandchildren, Kyra and Ashton.

Working as a Medical Technologist, she met her future husband and they were happily married and had a wonderful life together until his death in 1984. Mother was a wonderful, giving person with many friends. She loved the church; her faith in God was strong and she always saw the positive side in everything and everyone. Her love of nature, animals, and all things beautiful showed in the donations she made to many wildlife and animal relief funds. She loved to travel and always wanted to be on the road somewhere. During the past year, medical problems kept her from doing the things she loved, but she always had her dreams. The week before her passing, she was able to visit the ocean, and now is in Heaven walking the sandy shores of eternity. Farewell for now Mama, until we meet again in Heaven. You were the light and shining star in many lives. The Lord said: You have seen for yourselves how I bore you on Eagle's wings and brought you here to myself. Ex 19:4. A private family gathering will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park. Fly now Mama and spread your Wings!
