

Matthew Lee Baca, beloved brother and friend, passed away on August 4, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. He was born on July 31, 1959, at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL, the seventh child to William Baca, of La Grange, TX and Dorothy Quick of Chickasaw Oklahoma.
He grew up as a military dependent and lived in Schertz Texas, Valdosta Georgia, and Universal City Texas. He graduated from Samuel Clemens High School class of 1977. Matthew lived in Seattle Washington for the last 10 years and worked in the construction industry.
Matt had a sharp wit, ready with a remark or punch line to lighten any conversation. His tough exterior, coupled with a gentle soul, made him a pillar of strength in the lives of those he loved. He loved and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and hunting with his family and going to funny car drag races, military air shows of Blue Angels and Thunderbirds and NFL football fan.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers William Baca, Jr. of Universal City, James Baca of Sanford North Carolina, and sister Jeanne Morgan of Checotah, Oklahoma. He is survived by sister Kathy Dreher of Universal City Texas, Theresa and Larry Spears of Hutto Texas, Patricia and Ed Waldron of Franklin Texas, Monica and Tad Eaton of Converse Texas and brother Paul and April Baca of Canon City, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service for Matthew will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church located at 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX 78154. The Rosary Service will begin at 10:30 am and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am. The Burial Service will follow at the church cemetery. The family invites you to join them for a small reception following the services at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Hall.
Those wishing to honor Matthew's memory may donate to their favorite charity. Matthew had a deep respect for all military troops and for children's charities.
His memory will forever be an encouragement of strength and love to all who were fortunate to have known him.
