With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Melvin Robert Cline, 86, on August 27, 2025, in Mukilteo, Washington.
Melvin was born on April 28, 1939, in Port Angeles, Washington. Although he returned to the Pacific Northwest just eight months ago, he carried with him a lifetime of memories and experiences from Tennessee, Missouri, Colorado, and many other places he called home throughout the years.
Melvin will be remembered as a thoughtful and kind man who lived his life rooted in faith. He believed deeply in the power of prayer and in our Lord Jesus Christ, whose love and guidance shaped the way he cared for his family and those around him. Music was one of Melvin’s greatest joys, and his gift for playing the piano brought comfort, joy, and togetherness wherever he shared it.
Beyond music, Melvin found peace and inspiration in the outdoors. He loved camping and hiking—especially his cherished memories of Mt. Rainier—and he delighted in capturing the beauty of God’s creation through photography. His photos reflected the way he saw the world: full of wonder, light, and grace.
As a husband, he was devoted and steadfast. As a father and grandfather, he was a source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. His family was his most treasured blessing, and his legacy of kindness, faith, and love will live on through each of them.
Melvin is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Cline; his sons Robert, Darrell, and Eldon Cline; his grandchildren Forest, Sage, and Carlotta Cline, Joshua and Caleb Cline, Daria Cline, Alexander and Olivia Cline, and Zachary and Mary-Grace Cline; his brother Leslie Cline and sister Arlene Solid-Cline; and his daughters-in-law Maura Castillo and Stephanie Cline.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials and gifts be made to the Ava Seventh-Day Adventist Church, PO Box 635. Ava, MO 65608.
Though we will miss him deeply, we rejoice in knowing Melvin has found rest and peace in the arms of his Savior. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
