MILDRED ANDERSON, 95, born 4-5-21, passed into the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus on May 2, 2016. Mildred was the mother of daughter Madeline Gerlitz (James), and son Donald Anderson (Carla), and grandmother of Mike and Joe Gerlitz, and Nick, Mary, and Vincent Anderson, and great grandmother of Isabella and Ryan Gerlitz (Mike) and Lucy and Sam Gerlitz (Joe), and Autumn Anderson (Nick).
Mildred was born and raised on a farm in Kittitas, Washington, one of twelve children born to John and Mabel Watson (9 girls, 3 boys). After graduating salutatorian of her Kittitas class in 1939, Mildred came to Seattle to attend Griffin Business College, and then after WWII firmly settled here, working full-time at Boeing for several years. She gave her whole heart continually in her role as wife and mother -- often balancing that calling with parttime employment. Her greatest joys were her family, gathering with them for celebrations, reunions, or 'just simple visits'. Every one of them was precious to her, and she eagerly took part in as many of their activities as she could.
She was an avid reader, loved the Mariners (especially Rich Amaral!), and had the gift of gardening. She oould bring the most 'bedraggled' plant back to life with her nurturing and patience. After retirement from Safeco, Mildred worked tirelessly with the Dollars for Scholars fund for disadvantaged teens, as well as being deeply devoted to service in her church and community Bible Studies. Her strength of character and continual support will be deeply missed.
Services for Mildred will be held at Wedgwood Community Church, 8201 30th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA on May 21, at 2pm.
Donations in her name could be directed to Dollars for Scholars. https://scholarshipamerica.org/donate.php
