
Age 104, was born October 18, 1898 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to William and Ada nee: BarkerWade. She passed away October 22, 2002 in Shoreline, WA. Mildred graduated from Two Harbors High School in Minnesota. Family finances prevented her from attending the university. Instead, she was able to attend St Cloud, Minnesota Normal School. She was a high school math and english teacher from 1920 -1922. In 1922 she married Lester P. Albright in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They were married for 23 years. In 1942 she went to live with her mother and sister in Fargo, North Dakota. Times were hard, but she managed to put herself through night school to complete Comptmeter training early computer - calculators. In 1943, she moved to Seattle, WA and began her 43 year career with the Boeing Company. She sent for her daughters to join her in Seattle in 1944. She married Earl McElravy in 1951 in Seattle, WA. In 1952, her mother joined her family to live with them in Seattle. Mildred retired from the Boeing COmpany in 1960, and was the primary care giver to her mother due to her failing health. He mother passed away in 1961.
Mildred is survived by her loving daughters: Beverly Ulrich of Shoreline, WA and Joann husband Eldon Torsey of Edmonds, WA. She is also survived by his grandchildren: Janice Kerns, Redding, CA, Scottwife AnitaTorsey,Seattle, WA, Wade Torsey, Edmonds, WA, Donald ''Don'' Ermert, California, William ''Bill'' Ermert, Duvall, WA; great grandchildren: Samantha Baker, Chryslis Torsey, Alex Torsey, Steve Marshall, Angela Marshall, Heidi Gordon and Christopher Ermert; and great-great grandchildren: Ian Torsey, AnnaBel Marshall, Dylan Marshall, Allison Gordon, Lindsay Gordon, Cameron Ermert, Kendall Ermert, Brandon Ermert. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl McElravy in Jan 1985, her sister Esther in 1944 and a grandson William Torsey.
Mildred was a classy lady and a stylish dresser. She loved to read fictional novels, playing card games like solitaire and was an accomplished duplicate bridge player who accumulated enough points to earn the Life Master title two times. She remained active with her bridge club up to a year and a half ago when her health began to interfer with her activities. In her younger years, she volunteered for the Children's Orthopedic and Medical Center and has been a life time member of the National Bridge Association.
A celebration of her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wed. October 30, 2002 at University Presbyterian Church.
