Nina M. Cole was born on August 14, 1920 in Covington, Indiana. She was raised on a farm with her two sisters Genevieve and Dorothy by her parents Ira and Pearl Coffing. She and her sisters displayed musical talent at an early age. Nina became a fine pianist and organist. She and her sisters formed a marimba and vocal trio called the Coffing Sisters Trio. They were extremely popular in the Midwest and funded their college education at Univ. of Illinois with their many performances at schools and on the radio. All three sisters toured Europe with the Imperial Marimba Symphony Orchestra.
Nina raised five children in the Seattle area where she taught in public schools. She later became a remedial reading specialist and librarian. She also taught in Bellingham, WA. After retirement she resided in Mill Creek where she was on the Board of the Mill Creek Public Library and was a volunteer at the Edmonds Food Bank and Children's Hospital.
