Hello, my name is Kristopher Whitman,
 and I am writing to express my condolences to the Kim family.  

When I was in high school I volunteered with Mr. Kim Ochu and would spend the afternoon with him, reading his mail and helping him to send emails. I remember one of our first days working together I helped him to set up a yahoo or hotmail account. We sat in this big sunny room on the ground floor of a common space at the residence hall on south 12th Ave (?) if I remember correctly. What was supposed to have been only a few months of volunteer work turned into two years as I continued to stop by after school through my senior year. I don’t recall Mr. Kim speaking much about his personal experiences, but I do remember Mr Kim’s patience, his  soft spoken demeanor and how well liked he was by his peers. I know he spoke multiple languages, and would translate things I read to him in English into Korean and Japanese. Upon graduating high-school Mr. Kim took me out to lunch with a friend of his, at a Chinese restaurant down on King street. I remember how we sat upstairs and they ordered duck for the table. When lunch arrived, Mr. Kim was stunned to see that I could use chopsticks. That memory still makes me smile. I was so grateful to have spent time working with a such kind man. 

I hope this message finds the Kim family and I wish them all my very best and my belated condolences from New York City.
