Pam Ladley passed away on June 27, 2025,. She was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, the first child of Lillian Tilton Skells and James F. Skells. Her father’s career as an Army officer provided her with the opportunity to travel often.
She graduated from Annandale H.S. class of 1956, Annandale VA and Hood College, Frederick MD class of 1960. She attended the U. of Hawaii her junior year of college where she met the dashing Coast Guard Lt. Arthur Ladley Jr. They were married soon after. Art’s career led to twelve more moves. Their son and daughter were both born in Elizabeth City, N.C., and other orders brought them to Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, Virginia and the beautiful state of Washington. In each new home Pam was active in the community, volunteering in churches and schools, the Civil Air Patrol and American Red Cross, as well as singing in the choir or supporting local theater programs. She was active in the Coast Guard Officers Wives Clubs, and later in the Washington State Legal Secretaries organization, and Browns Point Lighthouse and garden club. She served as an ESL and reading tutor in Browns Point elementary schools. She worked as a real estate agent for a short time and then as a legal secretary for 10 years. Pam and Art’s travels included trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada, Japan. Hong Kong and Thailand often with good friends.
Pam is survived by her husband Art, son Russell Ladley and his wife Janette of Tacoma, WA; daughter Robin Maille and son-in-law Peter, grandsons Nathan and Simon Maille of La Grande, OR and her sister Penny Bragg of Tampa, FL. Her brother Peter Skells passed away earlier this year. Pam always felt she led a very blessed life and wishes her family and friends to know that they meant the world to her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Pam at 11am on Saturday, August 2nd at St. Matthew Episcopal Church in Browns Point.
