Panagiotis (Pete) Dikeakos passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by family. He was the youngest of six children born in the village of Vasiliki (Kourtsouna) near Sparta, Greece to Vasilis and Stratigo Dikeakos. He dedicated his life to faith, his family, and hard work. He grew up farming alongside his family and helped to build the village church. He served honorably in the Greek army from 1966 to 1968. In 1969, he married Stavroula (Voula) Alepakos, whom he had known since childhood having grown up in the same village. In 1971, they made the journey to the United States, living briefly in Binghamton, New York, with his brother, Pantelis and his family. In 1973, they settled in Seattle, Washington to raise their children and joined the St. Demetrios parish.
Panagiotis had an unparalleled work ethic, a quality that he shared with and admired in his wife, Voula. He was driven to care for his family, and always worked to ensure their security and well-being. For 30 years, he worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, while also taking on construction and remodeling projects. In addition to countless residential jobs, he completed remodeling work in many Greek restaurants throughout the Puget Sound area, and painted the inside of St. Demetrios Church and its large hall several times. He frequently used his skills to help friends, family, and the church. Over the years, he volunteered at the annual Greek Festival, completed repairs and improvements at the Philanthropia adult family home and All Saints Camp, and most recently, helped prepare the Philoxenia House for visiting cancer patients and their families.
When he wasn’t working, Panagiotis loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed various hobbies including wine-making, beekeeping, and tending to his garden. He filled his garden with an amazing range of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. It brought him joy to share what he had with friends and family, whether it was figs from his garden, honey from his bees, homemade wine, or apples from his annual trips to Yakima. This is part of the philotimo that he learned from his parents growing up.
Panagiotis is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Voula, his children Stephanie, Christina (Marco), Patricia, and Vasilis (Katherine), grandchildren Panagiotis and Anastasia, and many dear relatives and friends. He made an impact on so many people and will be dearly missed. May his memory be eternal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Dance & Choral Program or to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
