

Pastor John A. Oliver was born in Prescott, Arkansas on July 31, 1945 to Lola Mae Neal and John Willie Oliver. God called him home peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Kindred Hospital First Hill in Seattle, Washington. John worked as an Upholsterer for his late father, Rev. John W. Oliver at Oliver's Upholstery and for King County Metro Transit until his retirement in 1996. He was the founding Pastor of Gleanings Community Bible Church in July, 1985. John was preceded in death by his Mother, Lola Mae Neal; his parents Rev. and Mrs. John W. Oliver; grandson, Terrell Oliver; two brothers, Rev. Willie Oliver and Bishop Charles Oliver and one sister, Patricia Mobley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Isabell Oliver; one son, Rev. John T. (Sheila) Oliver; three daughters, Theresa Harris, Racquell Oliver, and Mitia Oliver; Seven grandchildren, Mikayla, Makale, Joshua, Cynelle, Camille, Alexandria, and Trinity; two great-grandchildren, Mikaii and Ji'Zorian; Mother-in-law, Elneda Mallory; three brothers, Travis Barnes of Seattle, WA, Leon Neal and Otis Smith of Dayton, OH; seven sisters, Dianna Loggins and Patricia (Anthony) Bailey of Seattle, WA, Vada Oliver-Talbert of Hyattsville, MD, Min. Gloria (Michael) Parham of Petersburg, VA, Neil Elliott, Marva Dean Wilkins and Patrice Weaver of Dayton, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. The public viewing will be held at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Avenue North in Seattle on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 3:00p.m. to 5:30p.m. and the Wake Service for family and friends to share reflections from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.in the Evergreen Washelli Chapel. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00a.m. and final public viewing prior to services from 9:00a.m. to 10:45a.m. at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 2801 South Jackson Street in Seattle. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Manaway, Sr. will be officiating and Bishop A. L. Hardy will give the Eulogy.
