On Wednesday January 22, 2025, Patty Hoey, loving wife and mother of two children passed, away at the age of 65 at her home in Seattle surrounded by her family. Patty was born in Denver, CO on January 10, 1960. She moved to Seattle with her family as a young girl and attended Seattle Public Schools graduating from Ingraham High School in 1978. Following high school, she attended the University of Washington where she graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1983. She soon embarked on what would become a 32-year career at the Seattle VA Hospital.

In 1985, Patty married her college classmate Chris, and together they shared a loving 40-year marriage and two wonderful children, Gareth and Nolan. Patty's greatest joy in life was her family and she demonstrated it to them endlessly.
Patty began her career working in the VA pharmacy but soon accepted an opportunity to branch out into the new field of computers and electronic medical records. She relished the opportunity to work with an enthusiastic group of healthcare providers to invent something that hadn't been done before. She quietly and modestly became a national leader in the development and application of the electronic medical record. She was loved and highly respected by her colleagues. Patty retired at a young age to help care for family.
Patty was universally known as a kind, gentle, patient, compassionate, generous, creative, and curious woman. Even though she was the stabilizing keel of her family, she had a wonderful sense of humor and adventure. Family adventures included trips to Hawaii, car-camping in the family tent trailer and big blue van from Banff to the Redwoods, and snowboarding in the Cascades. Patty was a wonderful cook and was known for the beautiful sweaters, caps, and baby clothes she knitted for everyone she knew.
Patty viewed each day as a special gift to be enjoyed. After retirement, she passionately took up golf and could hold her own in a round of 18. After her family, Patty's greatest joy was the fulfillment of a life-long dream of building a cabin in the mountains where she spent many blissful hours with her husband and family hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and simply luxuriating in nature. Her happy place was her cabin patio where she could sit and listen to the sounds of the forest and watch the wildlife that shared the precious spot with her.
Patty is predeceased by her father Simeon and is survived by her husband Chris, sons Gareth (Chelsea) and Nolan, mother Mary Uyyek, sister Linda DeBoldt (Peter), brothers Jeffrey Uyyek and Michael (Christine) Uyyek and her nieces and nephews.
Patty will be greatly missed. Her special spirit has infused all those who knew her and they will carry her with them forever.
A Memorial Mass is pending at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 814 NE 85th St., Seattle 98115.
