Patrick Fred Merk, 55, passed away on Wednesday, January 30 at his home in Edmonds, WA. He was born on August 7, 1952 in Seattle, WA to Lyle and Rose Merk. He worked at the Seattle Times for over 37 years and was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union Local 763.
His loss is deeply mourned by his wife of 33 years, Valerie Merk; daughter, Eileen Merk; siblings Candy Mike Holm, Eric Tzila Merk and Jeff Merk; in-laws, Esther Birch, Bonnie Birch, Don Becky Birch, Jeff Sandy Birch, beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Pat was a fabulous cook, bartender, gardener, boater, camper and fisherman. He really enjoyed his weekly golf outings with his buddies, taking road trips with his family, reading, and listening to music. Known for his intelligence on just about everything, his debating skills are legendary and will be sorely missed.
Services are scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday, February 16 at the Evergreen-Washelli chapel.
