Paul L. Ho

November 2, 1963July 8, 2018

It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of Paul Ho of Bellevue at the age of 54.

Mr. Ho died from smoke inhalation during a house fire at his home on July 8th, 2018.

Paul was born in Hong Kong to Frances Der Ho and Andrew Ho on November 2nd, 1963.

Paul's parents moved their family from Hong Kong to Baltimore, Maryland in 1968 when he was four years old. Two years later, Paul's family eventually made their home in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle in 1970 when he was six years old. Paul was a graduate of Kimball Elementary School, Asa Mercer Junior High School, and Cleveland High School (Class of 1981). While at Cleveland High School, Paul was a yell leader and a talented wrestler.

Paul was an accomplished restaurateur, sommelier, and executive chef. He became an admired and renowned fixture in the Seattle restaurant community early in his career. Paul grew up around the hospitality industry, working at his family’s restaurants at an early age. Paul began his hospitality and restaurant career as a waiter at the Palm Court in the Downtown Seattle Westin Hotel in 1981. Paul continued his career at the Salish Lodge in 1987. During the early years of his career, he expanded his knowledge of the industry becoming a skilled sommelier, mixologist, and Maitre D’. Following the Salish Lodge, Paul went into business as a restaurant consultant in 1995. Through his consulting business, he spent the majority of the remainder of his career using his vast knowledge to help start dozens of restaurants. Outside of his career, Paul was an avid foodie, wine enthusiast, and single malt scotch collector. One of his favorite things in life was to host dinner parties and experiment with new culinary creations for his friends and family. He also loved traveling and photography. Paul had no children of his own, but was a loving uncle to the children of his many friends. Above all else, he loved his family more than anything and cherished his time with them.

Paul is survived by his father Andrew and his mother Frances of Seattle, his sister Mary Luke (Stuart) of Kirkland, brother Joseph of Bellevue, brother John of Anchorage, brother Louis (Lily) of Renton, and nephew Martin of Bellevue.
