Paul passed away on March 18, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1928, and grew up on a large farm in Baltic, SD. Soon after graduating from high school Paul followed his sister Jerry out to Seattle. He graduated from the UW with a degree in cultural anthropology, with an interest in Northwest Native American cultures. After graduating, Paul was drafted into the Army, where he served in occupied Germany and traveled Europe.
After returning from Europe, Paul met and married Paularose James and they started a family. Working as a procurement specialist, Paul worked for Boeing, Van Waters & Rogers, and Harry Levinson & Co. but work wasn't his first focus. Paul enjoyed his shop and his collection of tools, and over a long summer added a full addition to the family home. Home, family, and friends were his focus and Paul enjoyed socializing with everyone. He was also proud of his Norwegian heritage.
Paul is survived by his wife, Paularose, and their son Jim, daughters Sheila (David) Roe, and Marilee (Todd) Hooper, and grandchildren Hallie, Kelley, Ryan, Jake, and Marissa.
Donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Maple Leaf Lutheran Church.

~Afterglow~
I'd like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles
When life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering
Softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.
