Paula Latz Lewis died in Seattle, Washington on January 16, 2021 with family by her side. She was born on August 18, 1920 in New York City and was the eldest of three daughters born to Ethel (Stern) and Edwin Latz. Paula attended Mount Holyoke College and during that time met Dick (Richard S.) Frank, who was attending New York University. They married in 1940 and moved to Portland shortly thereafter where Dick worked in the family business, Meier and Frank Co. department store.
Paula and Dick had five children, Stephen (Skip), Jeffrey, Scott, Deborah and Michael. Dick died in 1962. Paula married F. Faber Lewis in 1964. They were married for 33 years until Faber’s death in 1997.
Although not born or raised in Portland, Paula loved that beautiful city and contributed to its welfare in many ways. She belonged to the Portland Garden Club, served on the boards of the Hearing and Speech Center and the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a member of the Portland Junior League. volunteered her services to the Portland Art Museum and the Portland Symphony Association. Paula loved The Portland Town Club and spent much time there playing bridge and enjoying social company with her friends. She was an avid golfer and a member of Waverly Country Club as well as the Multnomah Athletic Club.
Paula is survived by her five children Skip (Patsy Graves), Jeff (Ann Wall Frank), Scott (Linda), Deborah (Don Murray) and Michael (Tricia); 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Donations in Paula’s memory may be given to the Endowment Fund of the Portland Town Club or to the charity of your choice.
