Rebecca "Beckie" Lindley, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. Born on February 19, 1946 in Tulsa, OK., to the late Keith and Nell Hodgin Lindley, Beckie will be remembered fondly by those who loved her throughout her 78 years.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1010 Pandora Street, Lafayette, La.
Beckie was a proud graduate of Lafayette High School and continued her education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. For over three decades, Beckie was the owner and operator of Merry Tails, a beloved retail store nestled in the heart of Pike Place Market in Seattle. Beckie's commitment to her work and her customers knew no bounds, as she poured her heart and soul into her shop, working seven days a week. Her unwavering work ethic and devotion to her clientele made Merry Tails more than just a store-it was a warm, welcoming place where friendships flourished.
Outside of her business, Beckie had a passion for reading, which allowed her to explore worlds beyond her own. In her younger years, her artistic talent shone through in her pin and ink artwork, a hobby that brought her peace. Beckie's life was enriched by the close-knit circle of friends she held dear and her unwavering love for animals, dedicating herself to their care with boundless love. She had a passion for rescuing them and her nurturing spirit ensured every creature she cared for had better quality of life.
Beckie is survived by her loving sister, Sherry Lindley Thomas of Lafayette, La., her brother, Robert "Bob" Lindley and his wife Brenda of Fairfax Station, VA., her nephew, Austin Lindley and his wife Kristina of Fairfax, Va., and her niece, Kylie Thomas, of Lafayette, La.
Beckie's kind spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many, and those who knew her will remember her as a person who lived by the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Beckie embodied this sentiment, making a lasting impact through her acts of kindness and her dedication to her community and her business.
Beckie's family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her dear friend Robin Dejong, who provided unwavering support and assistance at this difficult time. Her friendship was a source of comfort and strength that will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
