Reg "R.C." Fenton was a self-made man. Dedicated and hard-working, Reg sacrificed and provided for his immediate family as a boy and later in life, for his wife and children. As a young man during the Korean War, Reg served honorably in the U.S. Navy, where he learned to be an electrician and was trained in the new field of electrical components, especially for missiles. After a quick succession of jobs, he learned to be a draftsman, a mechanical engineer, as well as an electrical engineer. Reg worked at Boeing for several years, supervising engineers whose formal education exceeded his own; also during that time, he started living his dream of being self-employed--he bought older apartment buildings in the Seattle area, fixed them up and increased their values and their rents. After a few years, at the age of 43, he quit Boeing and worked full-time on his buildings.
Reg was a man who wore many hats, both literally and figuratively. Proud of being an avid runner for over 40 years, he was often found casually sporting shorts and running shoes. He loved fishing/boating, dancing, Elvis tunes, true crime novels, dirty jokes, watching "The Sopranos", and billiards (to name a few). As a gun enthusiast and champion trap shooter, it was not uncommon to find guns in all rooms of the house. He was also a member of the Freemasons, Pacific International Trapshooting Association, and the Lake City Elks (where he regularly enjoyed dinner/dancing).
He is preceded in death by his wife Charlene in 1984, and then his long-time partner Janette Nielsen in 2016. He is survived by his four children: Karon (Chuck), Lori, James, and John (Nicole) as well as three grandchildren, Chanel (Dale), Brandon, and Blake.
Funeral service will be held in his honor on June 29, 2017 at 10am at St. Alphonsus Parish in Ballard
(5816 15th Avenue NW, Seattle, WA). Graveside service will be held at 12pm at Washelli Cemetery (11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA) with a reception celebrating his life to follow at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home. Come prepared to share your favorite Reg/R.C. stories.
