Reynaldo Eugenio Morales

August 8, 1947 – July 22, 2025

Reynaldo Eugenio Morales passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 78, at Swedish Medical Center in Edmonds, Washington.

Rey was born on August 8, 1947, in Subic, Zambales, Philippines, to Gregoria and Cenon Morales. He was raised in Subic, where his roots ran deep and his values were shaped. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marietta Ramos Layda. They married on August 5, 1973, and began a life together grounded in love, partnership, and faith. Rey and Marietta welcomed three sons, Enrique, Rhey, and Raymark, whom they lovingly raised in their hometown.

Rey had a deep passion for cockfighting and raising roosters, both a tradition and a joy for him. He was also known for his skill in the kitchen, where his cooking brought people together and left lasting memories.

In July of 1992, Rey and his family immigrated to the United States. With the generous support of Romarico Ablao and his family, who welcomed them for their first month in the U.S., they began to build a new life. Rey worked as a sales associate at BP Oil in Northgate, and later, he and Marietta opened an adult family home. This became their livelihood and a reflection of their shared commitment to caregiving and hard work, until they both retired.

Rey is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Marietta, and their children:

• Eldest son Enrique and his wife, Kim, with their children Elijah, Kristine Joy, Eloiza, Elizamae, and Noel

• Second son Rhey and his wife, Jeniffer, with their daughter Mariah

• Youngest son Raymark and his wife, Ara, with their children Eliana, Analeah, and Evangelyn

The Morales family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the care team at Providence Swedish Edmonds. The CNAs, nurses, doctors, technicians, oncologist, palliative care doctor, and therapists all treated Rey with compassion, dignity, and respect. Their dedication softened what was a painful and emotional time.

To all our extended family and friends who stood by us in prayer and gathered each night to recite the rosary for Rey’s eternal rest, Thank You. Your love, presence, and support during this time of sorrow have brought us immense comfort and strength.

A visitation for Reynaldo will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. A catholic blessing service will occur Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 5:00 PM, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. A rosary will occur Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133.
