You gave my family and myself many good memories, wish we had more.

We've grown accustomed to  Richard's familiar wave as we drove by him down the street while he was always out washing the car or working on his beautiful front yard over the last 6 years we've lived on Densmore Avenue N. One morning last month we ran into him at Wells Fargo during what we considered Winter and there he was in his signature t-shirt, shorts, socks and sandals asking us why in the world we were wearing our coats - we felt pretty silly all bundled up on such a warm day.  We will miss you Dick - you made our block a great place to live! 

Karen; I didn't know Dick as well as I knew Randy, as I grew up in the neighborhood with Randy, and Kathy was in my class at Lincoln. But whenever I came up to the Duval house to see Randy, Dick was there too. He seemed to me to be a very earnest man even at that time. I remember him as a tough, strong person who had tough and strong values as had all of the members of that family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know there is no way to lessen the pain from such a loss, as I have just recently lost my mother. But keep in mind that you are surrounded by friends and family and that time will help. Richard was a great comfort to my mother and sister. They felt safer with him as a neighbor, and friend. I felt better knowing he was close by, to help out and provide a positive presence in the neighborhood.  I appreciate the hard work and dedication he provided for us all. thanks

I am also a friend of Carol Fords. I am so sorry to hear of Richards passing.

My warmest thoughts go out to all of you.  I have known Dick for several years. He worked for me, and closely with me within the past five years.  I thought Dick would be one of my biggest challenges hard to believe huh?. To my delieght and education he was one of my best allies.  In case you don't know, Dick talked about you all often.  We all knew your names and how much you meant to him; his wife, two daughters, wonderful grandson and of course his dogs.  I admired Dick because of how much his family meant to him, and because no matter what he was a man of ethics. I am saddened to hear of this news and your loss all our loss.  My thoughts are with you all, and Dick.

Karen, the suddeness of Richard's death makes one all the more appreciative of the precious time we have with our loved ones.  It will be hard, getting used to his absence, but know you have friends near who love you & want to help in anyway we can.
Cherie & Eric, Memories of your father's love & devotion to you & your son, expecially in times of distress, will be wonderful memories that will keep him alive in your hearts.
Jean & Tom, A father so supportive is a valuable asset to a young woman growing with her talent.  The memory of his beaming face in the audience, during your preformances, was a wonder to behold.  
And Gavin, A grandpa who loves & leads a young man is a precious mempory to hold on to as you grow into the wonderful young man you are becoming.  His influence will follow you throughout your life.

Dick is a true friend.  He has always been available at all times, no matter what.  He has always been most understanding and helpful. I spoke with Richard on wednesday of last week.  As always he was a pleasure to talk to.  In the short time I knew him I was touched by his kindness and generous spirit.  I will miss him.  I feel fortunate to have known him.  Please take care and know that my thoughts are with you.

A fine Police Officer.
I was my pleasure to have written several commentations for his work. Including "not shooting a bank robbery suspect when the suspect had a gun in his hand. Dick talked him into laying the pistol down. He also wrote the most complete reports that I have ever read and had the pleasure to approve and sign. Dick was an easy man to admire and like.

I was so sorry to read of Bob's passing. It is so hard to lose a loved one at anytime but  at such a young age makes it even harder. Having been a member of  SPD for 30 years myself I worked around Bob. I know he loved his job and was proud to be a Sgt. and mentor to so many young men under his command. You are in our prayers.
