Bob was born in Nebraska and then when he was around 12-13 years old lived in Niagra Falls, New York for a period of time. Later his family moved to Seattle, Washington where he lived until he joined the United States Air Force (USAF) after High School. Bob served with the USAF for 3 1/2 years where he served as Military Police for a little while then became an Instrument Mechanic. When he was finished with serving in Texas and Alaska he moved back to Seattle. When he returned, he attended Everett Community (Junior) College.
Bob was married to the love of his life Helen Aileen (Gorman) Brunsdon on 6-27-1959. They were happily married for 66 years. He married Helen shortly after his return and they lived in Seattle for the first few years. While in Seattle they had Pandora (first daughter). He worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) for a short time. Then moved to Kirkland when the new house was completed in June 1963. Kimberley (second daughter) was born right after moving in. He worked as a Milk Man after UPS. Last but not least the smallest delivery was made, Veronica came (third daughter), she was very tiny and was a special bundle. Now that he had a family of five and trying other jobs like working for the U.S.P.S. for a while he decided he would rather be his own boss and started his own business: Landscaping and Rock Raking and then later did R.B. Construction.
While living in Kirkland he used his GI Bill to study flying and received his private pilot and helicopter pilot license. He started getting interested while living in Kirkland to build his own helicopter and there were summers that we all piled in the car and drove around the country to check out other people's helicopters that were finished. It was inspiration for his dream. In the late 70's he started building a new dream home in Kenmore and built that house with the thought that the helicopter would fit through the door of the basement when completed.
Needless to say, forty years later, that dream was never completed. Someone bought it later to hopefully one day finish the helicopter for themselves. The dream house was great but later was more than they could take care of, so they moved to Everett, Washington and were there for around six years. Then they moved into Laurel Cove Assisted Living Community where they could be together in their last days. Laurel Cove has been great taking the best care that they could.
Bob lived a full life and passed on a legacy of the love for flying, traveling, art, crafting, building, decorating cakes and family. He always supported his girls in whatever they wanted to do. He would not let us be drivers until we knew the basics on cars. He allowed us to drive his tractors from the Landscaping business as advertisement in the Bothell parade. He took us flying. He taught us by example with construction when old houses needed work. Birthdays were a team effort for cakes as Mom would bake them according to his design, and then he designed and made some of the most amazing cakes.
He loved the family and will be missed by Helen (Gorman) Brunsdon, Pandora (Brunsdon) Heisler, Kimberley (Brunsdon) Horton, and Veronica (Brunsdon) Pohle and spouses. The Grandkids Kristin, Jillian, Bethany, Jennifer, Ryan and the great-grandkids Addison, Esme', Maeve, Sophia, Emilia, Santiago, and Jude. His brother Bill and his family and his the extended family as well.
