

Robert Gene Buren (Bobby) was born on August 15,1937 in Mound City, Illinois to George and Muszette Buren. When he was seven years old Bobby’s family moved to Seattle, Washington. In 1953, at the age of sixteen, Bobby joined the United States Airforce as a cryptographer. After leaving the Air Force he held many jobs ranging from chef in a Seattle restaurant, to technician in the UW Hospital’s Dialysis Unit. He retired from the University of Washington Transportation Department in 1997 after 25 years of service. He went on to work for Access Transportation as a bus driver, then as a security guard for Muckleshoot Casino. He was also a volunteer for Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims (now Victim Support Services).
Bobby’s life was defined by his strength and dedication to family. He loved life and brought joy to everyone he met. He will be missed!
Bobby is preceded in death by father, George, mother, Muszette, siblings, Shirley, David, Charles, Idabelle, Ronnie, Curtiss, former wife, Dorothy, son, George, daughter, Renee, and daughter Susie. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kris, daughter Carrie, daughter-in-law, Shelby, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on May 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. A repass will follow from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location, Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery.
The day will conclude with a committal service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Abbey View Memorial Park, 3601 Alaska Rd, Brier, WA 98036.
