The son of George and Bertha Kendall. Born in Bayard, Nebraska, one of 11 children, a farm boy with talents and a work ethic that enabled him to do most anything, from teaching a nephew basketball to building a cabin or managing the Taft-Hartley department in Trust at Bank of America.
He went to High School and Centralia College in Centralia, Washington and attended the University of Washington.
He loved his country, his family and his wife of 63 years, Glenna. He enjoyed travel and each year he and his wife spent time on Maui and later visited Switzerland where he had 'R&R'd' while in the Air Force after WWII. He particularly enjoyed trips to Scotland where Highland music entertained. He loved bagpipes and each year visited the "Highland Games" in Enumclaw with friends and family.
Each summer he planned mini-vacations with his niece, Rosanne and nephew, Ross, as well as family get-togethers on Camano Island and Lake Chelan, and at Christmas he saw to it his home was "decked with lights".
He was a fan of the Mariners and U of W football, golfed, bowled and also made music and theatre a part of his life, contributing to both The 5th Avenue and Taproot theatres.
Of his family, his sister, Colleen DeFazio, is the only remaining sibling. Bob was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Melford, Kay, Alta, Dorothy, Lorraine, Wayne, Kenneth, Vida and Patricia. His niece Jeanne Barlia and her husband, David, were dear to him and helpful during his illness. Bob's love was spread amongst many nieces and nephews namely: Megan, Greg, JC, Rodney, Arlene, Tony, Valerie, Teri, David, Bruce, Sandra, Michael, Marcie, Sherry, Steve, Jeanne, Rosanne, Shirlyn, Raymond, Keith, Brian, Philip, Steven, Lori and Jeffrey.
Thanks to Dr John Kirkpatrick for care during Bob's long illness and also to the caregivers who took care of him and helped his wife make a happy life for him under difficult circumstances. The family's thanks also go to a Hospice team that offered valuable service when needed.
