
Born February 13, 1917 in Haiger, Nebraska and died on February 2, 2004, ten days before his eighty-seventh birthday. Bob passed away peacefully in Swedish Hospital surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Jackson and his three sons and their wives, Bruce and Elaine of Salt Spring Island, BC, David and Joanna of Seattle and Mark and Toni of Tacoma. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, as well as his stepson, Fredric Jackson and wife Chrissie; stepdaughter, Jayne Scribner and her husband Rob and their children, who welcomed him wholeheartedly into their family upon his marriage to Marion three years ago.
Evelyn L. Logan, his wife of 59 years and the mother of his three sons, predeceased Bob in 1998.
A long and distinguished career in the military was an important part of Bob?s life. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army and in the Army National Guard for a total of 38 years, retiring as a Colonel in 1972. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations with the 41st Infantry Division for over 44 months. He was proud of having made D-Day landings in Biak, New Guinea and Zamboanga, Philippines. Following Japan?s surrender, he participated in the military occupation of Japan where he performed duties as a medical supply officer near the ruins of Hiroshima.
Bob also enjoyed a career with the federal civil service, where he held senior administrative posts in both the Veterans Administration and the General Services Administration. In his later years he was active in rental real estate.
Bob enjoyed travel, having visited every state of the union and over sixty-five countries. He was also fond of classical music, good food, beach fires and blowing things up with firecrackers.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 12:00PM, Sunday February 8 at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N. The family requests that contributions to a favorite charity be made in lieu of flowers.
