

Robert (Bob) S. Zimmerman, 88, beloved husband of Rita Zimmerman for 70 years, died peacefully at home on March 13, 2013. He was born in Grandview, Washington on June 4, 1924. Most of his life was spent in Seattle, Washington, until moving to University Place, Washington in September of 2009.
Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in Adak, Alaska. He worked at Horluck's Creameries, Inc. and Darigold Farms in Seattle, retiring from the latter in 1986 as a supervisor in the ice cream division. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters (IOF) and The American Legion.
Bob and Rita enjoyed camping and fishing, initially tent camping with their children in early days to months of traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest in their RV during their retirement. This included outings with The CATTS Club.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three children - Carol (Bill) Westby of Bremerton, Washington; Robert (Lucille) Zimmerman of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Kimberly (Duane) Bower of University Place, Washington; six grandchildren - Teresa (Jack Cutchie) Westby of Omak, Washington; Tania (Owen Richards) Westby of Seattle, Washington; Bob (Kandace) Zimmerman of Snoqualmie, Washington; Ali (Anne Cruzen) Zimmerman of Issaquah, Washington; Brett Bower and Rebecca Bower of University Place, Washington; and six great-grandchildren - Brandon Westby, Shannon Westby, and Jackson Cutchie of Omak, Washington; Colton West of Issaquah, Washington; and Kyan Zimmerman and Aspen Zimmerman of Snoqualmie, Washington. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Tami Westby in 2002.
At his request, there will be no services. He will be inurned at Tahoma National Cemetery. The family is planning a private celebration of his life.
