Mrs. Roberta Josephine Gagnon (Hill), age 94, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Marysville, Washington. Born on September 15, 1931, in Green River, Wyoming, Roberta lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Roberta devoted her professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse at Children's Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare extended far beyond the hospital walls. One of her most enduring legacies is her five-year battle to establish a helipad in La Paz County, Arizona—a mission she pursued with determination to improve emergency medical access for rural communities. Her advocacy left a lasting impact and stands as a testament to her tireless spirit and concern for others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Gagnon, and her daughter Cheryl Johnston. Roberta is lovingly remembered by her children Louis Gagnon, Annette Olin, and Darlene Meissner; her brother David Hill; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Roberta found joy in artistic expression and the natural world. She was an avid rockhound who transformed her finds into beautiful works through jewelry making and silversmithing. Her love of ceramics also reflected her creative soul and attention to detail.
Those who knew Roberta remember her as the most loving lady—a devoted wife and mother whose warmth touched everyone around her. Her legacy lives on not only through the lives she saved and improved but also through the family she cherished and the beauty she created with her hands.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Celebration of Life will be January 17, 2026 at 11am at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home at 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA. Followed by her Burial service at 2:00pm at Abbey View Memorial Park 3601 Alaska Rd, Brier, WA.
