This is to announce the passing of a noble heart. She was a shining example of someone devoted to the well-being of others. Rosemary grew up in Illinois and became an Army Nurse in WWII in the Pacific Theater. Postwar, she pursued a Masters in Public Health on the GI Bill. She moved to Vancouver, WA where she was a Public Health Nursing supervisor, tireless volunteer, activist and President of the City Council. After coming to the UW and winding up as Chair of the Community Health Nursing Program, she initiated and chaired the UW Nurse Practitioner program. The unflagging activist, she was a board member of Grey Panthers Health Care committee, a founding member of CINH Citizens for the Improvement of Nursing Homes. After retirement she began her 2nd career in Art, receiving national recognition. She volunteered in free clinics at the Morrison Emergency Shelter, Native American Clinic at the old Public Health Hospital and free foot care clinic at an Elder Center. A faithful friend, and world?s greatest Mom. What a heroine for us all to emulate, forever humble, but courageous and resolute. We may never realize all that she has done for people in this state and the world but it is written in Gold in heaven. Thank you mother and citizen, Rosemary J. Forsythe-Pittman.
Memorial donations may be made to the University Unitarian Church 6556 35th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA.
