Roy Lyle Avery went Home on August 13, 2016. He was born in Aberdeen, WA. on December 8, 1980. He was a calm and sunny-natured child. At age 7 he was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a congenital and progressive muscle-wasting disease with no cure. Most with Duchenne live into their twenties, some do not. Age 35 is amazing. Not letting his disease define him, Roy became a top student and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 2000. He also became an Eagle Scout. He received his AA from Grays Harbor College and then his BS in Computer Science from Central Washington University in 2005. He worked contracts as a software tester at Microsoft until his health declined . He then worked from home for Maker's Tool Works, a company that sells desktop 3D printer kits. Complications of Duchenne and kidney failure requiring dialysis stole his physical body. He died at home, in his sleep, of congestive heart failure after one day on Hospice. Roy trusted that his Lord had a better plan for him. The family wishes to thank his doctors: Dr. Josh Benditt(pulmonology), Dr. Arthur Anderson(nephrology) and Dr. John McCloskey(cardiology). These doctors were instrumental in giving Roy his 35 years in the face of a devastating disease. Roy's parents are Marc Avery and Ann Avery. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Laura Teske, wonderful brother-in-law William(Bill) Teske, and his awesome niece Roxanne Teske. His only remaining grandparent is Robert(Bob )Avery. Roy wrote a message for his family and friends before he left: "Know that I love you all very much, and want you to live your life like I did, always fighting and not letting any hardship slow me down. Reach for the stars. I pray for you that we will meet again in Heaven for eternity. Just trust in God and Jesus like I have. Love, Roy
