He was the second of four children, and is survived by his younger brother, George Blomdahl, of Chehalis, WA. He was preceded in death by his older brother Al and his only sister, Esther.
He was a 1933 graduate of Lincoln High School in Seattle. He lettered in track, metaled in relay, and won a silver metal for the 440 dash at the Seattle High Schools Annual Track-Field meet in 1931.
He was dependable even at an early age. He received certificates for ''Neither Absent Nor Tardy'' from 1929 through 1932.
At the age of 19, he enlisted in the National Gaurd, and was Honorably Discharged in 1936 at the rank of Corporal.
In one of his high school annuals, it listed commercial artist as a vocation, but he became an accountant.
He met my mother at Elim Baptist Church. They had one child, Loretta Marie. Dad and I made a trip to Europe in 1953 seeing Scandinavia, England, and France. That trip was made with my Uncle George, who was our tour guide.
Dad enjoyed playing horseshoes, golf, and tennis, but his real passion was bowling. He has many trophies for games over 200 and 250. He was very competitive, and had a wonderful, infectious laugh when he was really enjoying himself. He enjoyed all sports, either by participating or watching. He used to watch two tv's so that he could catch golf on one and tennis on the other, or whatever games were in season.
He had also been an avid stamp collector for many years. His stamps were very important to him, and he left us with much history in beautiful color.
He is survived by his wife, Marvel Johnson Blomdahl, originally __illegibleand also of Swedish parents. They met at the Washington Athletic Club when they enjoyed skiing and climbing. They were married for 45 years.
Everyone who ever knew Roy liked him, his competitive spirit, and his wonderful zest for life. He will be missed by all who loved him.
He will be laid to rest at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery, the same as his parents.
''Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.'' Psalm
