He was born in Lebanon, Oregon on August 9th, 1944. Roy graduated from Grants Pass High School. He was married to Sandra Standley on October 10, 1970.
Roy worked as a truck driver for King County Metro, P.I.E., and Yellow Trucking. He was was a soldier in the US Navy. Roy joined the US Navy in January 1963 and served until January 1967 and received an Honorable discharge. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Navy Unit Commendation (Vietnam), the Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Medal. He served on the USS Kitty Hawk during Vietnam.
He was survived by his children Mike Bangs, Pat Bangs, and Kathy Curneen. His grandchildren Kayla Bangs, Travis Bangs, Geoffrey Stokes, Lindsey Curneen, Lauren Curneen, and Caroline Bangs. His great grandchild Remilou Bangs and his brothers William Standley and James Standley.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 11:30, November 19, 2019 at Yarington's Funeral Home in White Center.
