Ruth Jane Gibson

Ruth Jane GIBSON December 3, 1909 ~ January 2, 2009 Age 99, Ruth passed away peacefully on Friday January 2, 2009 in Seattle. Born on Texada Island B.C. Canada, she began her long life in Seattle at the age of 12, was a graduate of Seattle's Broadway High School, became a U.S. citizen in 1937, was employed by the Univ. of Wash. Dorm Food Service, a communicant and volunteer of Green Lake United Methodist Church and the beloved wife, mother of three and nanny to several children. Her love of people, conversation and history made her travels through the U.S., Canada and Europe high-lights in her life. Her kind, loving and intelligent ways were deeply appreciated and admired by all those whose life she touched. In her later years she enjoyed reading, listening to her Mariners baseball and playing trivia with her friends. She was the wife of the late Fred Gibson, 1965, and mother of the late Grace Gibson, 2004. She is survived by her son, Don F. Gibson, daughter, Gloria Brooks, both of Seattle, a grandson, John Brooks and a great grandson, Ryan. A memorial service will be held at Green Lake United Methodist Church on Wed. Jan 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. 6415 1st Ave NE, Seattle 98115. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Green Lake United Methodist Church or American Heart Assn.
