Ruth Shaw-Koester

Ruth Skeen Shaw-Koester, of Edmonds, WA passed away January 1, 2009 in Everett, WA at the age of 76.Ruth was always kind, loving and hard-working. She overcame many challenges to provide a good home for her family. She was a wonderful mother who taught her daughters to respect themselves and to do the best job in any situation. She was a generous grandmother, providing much time and love to her grandsons. Ruth enjoyed good food, which led to her success as a waitress and cook. She also loved bright colors, sewing, crocheting, cute animals, bingo and wrestling. Even in the final stages of dementia, her sweet nature came through. Thanks to Cynthia and Gloria of Lake Serene AFH, Ruth received loving care through these difficult years.She is survived by daughters, Beverlee and Cheryl; sisters, Edna and Marge; and brother, Jim; grandsons, Eric, Kevin, Ryan and Chris; and great-grandchildren, Elke and Austin. She was preceded in death by son, Raymond; sisters, Minnie, Hilma and Mary; and brother, Owen. Ruth is also predeceased by three husbands, Berle Watson, Melvin Shaw, and Archie Koester, Jr.Services will be held 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Evergreen-Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133, with a reception to follow.
