Born in Seattle on December 9, 1923. She was a true pioneer, as a toddler her parents William and Claire Abbes moved to Petersburg, Alaska. They lived on and worked a fox farm until she was eleven years old. The family returned to Seattle in time for Ruth to attend junior high and high school in a large city. She gradutated from Queen Anne High School in 1942. In 1952 she married Martin Thue. Ruth died Tuesday night February 6, 2001 at Stevens Memorial Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be remembered for her fierce determination to be independent, her positive attitude and her gift of love. She was one who loved animals, the outdoors, and all the natural beauty this earth has given us. Her two sons William Dalan Thue and Robert Lloyd Thue survive Ruth along with William's wife Carol Jean Thue and their two daughters Shannon Marie and Andrea Elizabeth. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2001 5:00pm at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel 11111 Aurora Ave. N. Seattle.
