Ruth Mae Walsh, 90, passed away on June 2, 2020 in Seattle, Washington. Mae was born on February 20, 1930 to Ida Jean and James M. Kennedy in Seattle. She grew up in the Green Lake area and attended Lincoln High School. After graduation, she met James Earl Walsh and they were married in 1956. Mae began to raise a family, working as a bookkeeper in addition to co-owning a television repair business with her husband Jim. In the early 1960’s, Jim and Mae built a home in North Seattle, where they raised their two children and she resided until her death.
Mae was an active member and a past President of the charity organization, Emblem Club, which is an auxiliary of the Lake City Elks Lodge. She spent many hours over the years fundraising for worthy causes. Mae was a strong woman who loved life and will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have been a part of her life journey.
Mae remained active and independent throughout her life, embracing all the changes that occurred during her lifetime. Her strong devotion to both family and friends will live beyond her passing. In her later years, Mae enjoyed watching cooking shows and trying new recipes, Hallmark Channel movies, the Hallmark Yule Log on TV at Christmas while she read her mystery novels, and listening to old time radio shows. She was much younger than her age in both spirit and mind. Mae saw the beauty in everything. She will be remembered and missed for her positive attitude, generosity, and graciousness.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Earl Walsh. She is survived by her son Michael (Terry) Walsh of Poulsbo, Washington; her daughter Jean Walsh, and grandson John Diego Caro of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by her younger brother James (Kathy) Kennedy of Port Angeles, Washington. Evergreen Washelli funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
