

Scharlene Esther Hebert (Scharlene Esther Esparzo), was born on May 23, 1944, in Seattle, Washington. She peacefully passed away on January 2, 2026. Scharlene spent her life rooted in Washington then moved to OnAlaska, Washington.
Scharlene was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Red Cloud Esparzo and Esther Jackson, also siblings Shelby Esparzo and Ramon Esparzo.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Larry J. Hebert, Sr. Scharlene’s children Larry Hebert, Jr., Shelia Marie Hebert (deceased), Jeanette Renea Hebert (deceased), Salina Hebert, stepdaughter Linda Hebert and foster daughter Sheila Fields. Her grandchildren Placide (Rebecca), Njere (Aaron), Nakita, Diamond (deceased), Antoine, Taynaya, Andrew and Dynasty. Great grandchildren Neveah, Jaden, Layla, Amaiya, Isaac, Kyrie, Janessa, Jayen, Sincere, and Kalia. She is also survived by a host of extended family and dear friends.
Scharlene grew up in Seattle, Washington and attended Garfield High School, she was also a devoted Catholic throughout her life. She began her professional career working in housekeeping at the Washington Plaza Hotel. In 1980, her husband opened Larry’s Volvo Incorporated, where Scharlene served as the Vice President and Secretary. In 1989, she branched out to open Scharlene’s Espresso, which she owned and operated until they both retired in 1995.
Scharlene was deeply involved in the community. She served as a playground monitor at St. Edward’s School, was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Edward’s Catholic Church and held leadership roles as the Vice President and President of the Beacon Hill Chamber of Commerce.
She loved to travel both domestically and internationally and cherished time spent camping, fishing, swimming, and snow skiing—always alongside her family. Scharlene will be remembered as a loving and helpful woman, known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering positivity. Her favorite saying was, “Only positive vibes, no negativity.”
