Shirley J. Bloss passed away at home on Aug. 6, 2018 after a long illness. Born to Ora and Howard Calkins on Jan. 3, 1930. She graduated from West Seattle High School, attended Edison Vocational School and the University of Washington. She met her future husband at a dance at the Spanish Castle on Hwy.99 south of Seattle in the summer of 1953 and were married on Aug. 28,1958 after he finished his studies at the U of W. She lived a very active life, loved water and snow skiing, boating, hunting, and traveling, was a member of Eastern Star and life member of SYC. Her Hobbies included needle point, crocheting and cake decorating. Enjoyed Seattle Symphony and Opera performances with family. She is survived by husband Dr. Albert P. Bloss, daughters, Joleen Bloss, Dr. Jaineen Bloss (Charles Bidwell), Kaitlin Swartz (Greg Swartz); sister Era Mae Wieand; niece Joyce Jackson, and two grandchildren.
Services will be private. No flowers. Donations to N.W. Kidney Center.
