

Shirley was born in Seattle on Sept. 15, 1924 to parents Bill and Jean Young. She was raised and educated in the Seattle area, and was a devoted wife and mother. After raising her family, she worked for Safeco for 20 years until her retirement in 1986. She recently moved to Kalispell, MT to be with family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob, her parents Bill and Jean Young, her granddaughter Alicia, brothers Bill Jr and Bob, and cousin Don.
Shirley is survived by daughters Susan Bates (Jim) of Redmond and Linda Carpenter (Jim) of Kalispell, MT, grandchildren Kristen (Scott), Chad (Sabrina), Brent (Trisha), and Jon, as well as great grandsons Keegan, Cameron, Dane and Aiden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was loved for her loyalty and devotion to family and friends. Her greatest joy was caring for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a marvelous sense of humor, and was always joking, laughing and enjoying her family and friends. Shirley was full of grace, incredible strength, and unconditional love. She warmed the hearts of those she touched, and was loved and admired by everyone who met her.
