Stanton Irving Rowell of Seattle, Washington passed away at home on February 12th, 2022, at the age of 89.
He was born on November 28th, 1932, to Irving H. Rowell and Beatrice A. Rowell (nee Londahl) in Seattle, WA. Living in a military family with his father as a Lt. Col in the US Army, Stan lived in a few different places during his childhood, but returned to his hometown of Ballard, WA in his teenage years. Stan attended Loyal Heights Elementary and Ballard High School, class of 1951. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War at the age of 17 as gunner in a plane called the PBM-Mariner.
With a passion for the printing business, Stan enjoyed many years working for companies in the Seattle area, but his longest time was with Trojan Lithograph. Some of his key accounts included, Redhook Brewery, Microsoft, the Seattle Super Sonics, and Alaska Airlines. He truly was one of the best in his trade. In 1996, Stan co-founded Anywear Shoe Company, a successful, local, rubber clog business that is still thriving today. He had these clogs in every color and wasn’t afraid to show some flare! He began his own printing company he named STANPRINTS Inc. and took care of all the printing and material needs for Anywears until he sold the business in 2000.
He was an avid fan of the NFL and Seattle Mariners. Attending games earlier in his life was something he enjoyed very much and continued watching sports as much as possible. Stan appreciated a warm climate and loved traveling to Hawaii often with his family. Waikiki beach was one of this favorite places. With his love for cars, he also enjoyed taking road trips to places like Canada, Montana, and local areas in the Pacific Northwest. He loved fishing, cooking, grilling on the BBQ and entertaining his family and friends. Stan also had a true appreciation for the finer things in life and enjoyed dining in wonderful restaurants, delicious drinks, and great cigars. Some of his favorite hangouts were, Canlis, El Gaucho, Vito’s, and Il Terrazzo Carmine. He had a soft spot for the family pets over the years and really loved animals. Stan was also a longtime member of the College Club of Seattle.
Stan was a sharp, witty, fun-loving man who often responded to the question “How are you today, Stan?”, with “Delicious!” He really knew how to have a great time and make sure that those around him were also having one as well. He was also known to be a smooth talker. He didn’t get the nickname “Silky” for nothing!
He married his loving wife of almost 43 years, Ok-Pun “Kim” Crerie, on June 23rd 1979. They had 1 daughter together, named Susan.
Stan is survived by his wife Kim, children; Steven Rowell, Denice Watkins, Kevin Rowell, Susan Archer, and stepdaughter Linda Crerie. 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Irving, mother Beatrice, brother Franklin, sister Barbara and son Shawn. Stan was loved so very much and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on February 28th, 2022, at 10am at Evergreen-Washelli funeral home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98133-8299, followed by his memorial service at 11am. Reception to celebrate his life to follow.
Pallbearers will be son Kevin Rowell, son-in-law Paul Archer, grandsons Flynn Archer and TaShane Jones, and longtime pal, Jimmy Nelson.
